Selecting storyboards for marketing videos

What is a storyboard?

Animoto’s pre-built storyboards are video templates designed with best practices in mind. You can add your own content to storyboards and customize them to fit your brand. Take a look at how you can get started.

1. Choose a storyboard

We have dozens of storyboards designed for many different use cases, including specialized templates for photographers, real estate agents, non-profits, educators, and more. We’ve also designed storyboards to fit specific business needs, be it a Facebook or Instagram promo, a video listicle, or a recipe how-to video. Find the video that best matches your business goals, the click the blue CHOOSE STORYBOARD button to select it.

2. Upload images and video clips

Once you’ve chosen your storyboard, you can add in your own photos, video clips, and logo. Start by selecting the “Media” icon from the toolbar on the left-hand side of your screen—it’ll be the icon at the top of the tool bar. You can then upload photos and video clips from your computer.

3. Drag and drop your content

Any images or video clips you add to your Media tray can be dragged and dropped into your storyboard blocks, replacing the storyboard photos and video clips with your own content.

Pro tip

Photo, video, and text blocks are all interchangeable, so go ahead and drop photos into video blocks or delete an image from a photo block to turn it into a text block.

4. Add your own text

Quickly add or adjust text by selecting the “T” icon on the bottom part of the block you want to change; then, edit the text however you like. You can also select “See More” at the bottom of the block to view more text options, including ways to change the size, position, and color of your text. Want to learn more about our text features? 5. Finish with your logo

For extra brand recognition, try adding a logo to the end of your video. To add a logo block, click the blue ADD A BLOCK button in the upper-right-hand side of your screen. A new window will pop up, listing the types of blocks you can use in your video. Under the “Special” category, you can find “Logo.” Click to add a logo block to your video. Then drag and drop your logo onto the ‘L” icon.

Pro tip

Click “See More” under your logo block to see options for changing background color, adding a photo background, resizing your logo, and changing logo animation.
