It’s the night before the big day. There may be a lot going on, but when everyone’s seated for dinner, it’s a good time to break out the video slideshow and let the crew take a little breather. In a previous post, we covered some important things to keep in mind when making your rehearsal dinner video, but here, we’ll cover how to actually create the video. We’ve broken it down, step by step, so you can see just how easy it is (and you can cross this one off your to-do list, pronto).
Step 1: Log in to your Animoto account
Once you’re logged in, simply click the CREATE button to start a new video project.
Step 2: Pick your video style
The style is like a visual template for your video, and determines the look and feel of it. If you browse by “Wedding,” you should see all the different styles we recommend specifically for weddings. For this example video, let’s go with Rustic.
Step 3: Upload your photos and video clips
It’s a good idea to use a mix of photos and a few video clips. To upload what you want to use, either click the plus sign right under the song title and choose the image icon, or click “Add pics & vids” in the side toolbar.
You’ll have the choice of uploading your images directly from your computer, or accessing them via Facebook, Instagram, Dropbox, Flickr, or SmugMug. Just keep in mind that if you’re using any of those services, you’ll have to log into them first.
You can also reorder your images simply by dragging and dropping them into place.
Step 4: Add text
Once you’ve uploaded all the photos and video clips you want to use, you’ll get a sense of the “story” you want to tell. Interspersing a few text cards here and there and help give context to that story. To add a text card, click the plus icon and select the letter (“T”) icon. Then, type in what you want and click SAVE.
Step 5: Choose music
The soundtrack to any video sets the tone and the mood, and serves as an important part of the overall emotional impact your video can have. By default, a song is already selected, but feel free to change it up with whatever you like. Simply click “Change Song” and browse our extensive library of licensed songs. Once you’re in the library, you can filter by genre or song length. Feel free to upload your own song, but just make sure you have the rights to use it.

Step 6: Preview and produce your video
Once everything is to your liking, the next to last step is to preview your video, by clicking the PREVIEW VIDEO button. That gives you a chance to see how the entire video came together. Just bear in mind that what you’re seeing is a low-resolution preview. That means the final video will be a higher quality, depending on the resolution you choose.
This is a good time to make any changes you want. Either hit CONTINUE EDITING, or if you’re good to go, click PRODUCE to make your video final.
