In early May, 2011 a collaborative effort emerged (Leech Lake Legacy) to help the animals of Leech Lake Reservation. As of 11/20/2011, 165 animals have been given a second chance. Many thanks to the volunteers of Leech Lake Legacy, the Leech Lake tribal police, Rory (Leech Lake ACO), MN Partnership for Animal Welfare, Animal Humane Society, Animal Allies, Pet Haven Inc of Minnesota, and Act V Rescue for the active role they have taken in helping the animals of Leech Lake Reservation.
