When you use Animoto, you know video clips must be 10 seconds or less. But have no fear, I can show you how to get more video clip time!
I work on Animoto’s customer service team and I know some of you are looking for the secret to adding longer clips. Well here we go! I’m not a photography professional, but I love taking pictures and video with my camera and even my iPhone. Whatever device I have on hand – I’ll use it!
I went to the Coachella Music Festival in April 2012 and used my iPhone to take the majority of my pictures and video. I had so many long video clips and wanted to use more than just 10 seconds in my Animoto video! Luckily there is a way to duplicate your video clips so that you can use longer clips.
Here are the steps I took to get the most out of my video footage:
Step 1: I uploaded a long video clip and duplicated it using the “Duplicate” option located to the right in the editing window.
Step 2: For the first clip, I double clicked on the video and a window for editing the clip opened. I had the start point begin at 00:00 of the clip and set the clip length to 10 seconds. I hit save and closed out of the editing window. Visit our FAQ section for more information on editing your video clips and watch the steps on video here.
Step 3: For the second clip (the one we duplicated), I double clicked on the video and a window for editing the clip opened. I adjusted the start time to begin at 00:15 and set the clip length to 8.5 seconds.
Step 4: I produced video! You can see it looks like I used 18.5 seconds of video clip in my finished Animoto Video! Check it out!
