Software Test Engineer

By

Animoto is looking for testers who would love to find new ways to break everything from our website to apps to our rendering engine and more! We need testers who will be comfortable inside the engineering team, working with teams throughout the rest Animoto, and listening to customers to find new ways to improve the test team and the product in general.

Responsibilities

  • The testing for STEs will be largely manual and semi-automated because we need to harness human brains to find our UI bugs
  • Be part of the entire SDLC, finding better ways to test at all stages and improve our process
  • Determine the types of testing your area needs, when it needs them, and how that integrates with the rest of engineering
  • Determine how test results should be reported for your area to give everyone the fastest, most useful feedback about the state of the project
  • It’s ok to make developers cry a little sometimes, but don’t actually hurt them

Requirements

  • A sense of humor. I was kidding about making the devs cry
  • Understand something about different test methodologies and about web technologies and apps
  • Good problem-solving skills. Be able to figure out which part of a large system isn’t working
  • A strong desire to break software. Be able to make part of a large system stop working
  • Attention to detail. (Experience in art/video/cinema/photography/related a plus)
  • Dedication to experimentation and continual learning. Tell us about the last great test book you read and how you applied that knowledge for bonus points
  • Coding, especially in Ruby, is nice to have but not required
  • Check out our developer job ads. You’ll be testing what those devs write

Salary: competitive

Benefits: PPO Health Insurance Plan 100% paid for employee and dependents, participation in employee stock option plan
